Student Chapters

Started by students, driven by passion.

Chapters play a crucial role in building food sharing networks. By volunteering, fundraising, and advocating, organizers can work with Sharing Excess to promote food security in their community. Chapters can be powered by college students, high schoolers, or everyday community heroes.

what do chapters do?

Make meaningful impact on campus and in the community.

Food Rescue

Rescue surplus food from local food businesses with the help of our team and technology. You can track your chapter's impact, engage volunteers, and form a powerful network.

Pop-Up Distributions

Organize and host food distributions on campus and in your community. We'll help you source food and set up so you can distribute and spread the word about SE.

Meal Swipe Donations

Student meal swipes often go to waste. Your chapter can collect unused & donated meal swipes and redirect them to students who may be facing food insecurity on campus.

Advocacy

Be a voice for food security and waste reduction. Engage in educational initiatives and work with stakeholders to create policies that ensure a sustainable and equitable food system on campus.

Fundraising

Create fundraisers that support our mission and your chapter. From marathons to game nights, food drives to concerts, we encourage you to get creative–the sky is the limit!

Volunteering

Lend a helping by volunteering with your chapter. Whether it's with SE, or another organization, you can get people together to make meaningful local impact.

Active Chapters

Our active chapters are the heartbeat of our organization, bringing the food rescue movement to life in communities across the globe. These passionate and dedicated groups of individuals are at the forefront of our mission, driving change, and making a tangible impact in the fight against food waste and hunger.
